For years I’ve suspected stress was the root cause of illness – be it physical, mental or spiritual – as there is no separating mind from body. Lately, science is backing up what many of us have intuited. We are swimming in cortisol 24/7, 365 days a year and it’s leading to chronic inflammation, which in turn leads to about 90% of all illness. If we can think of symptoms as being “brilliantly intelligent at waking us up,” we can use that information to pull us back to health.
We all benefit from learning about the role stress plays. One way to offset the onslaught is by incorporating more stress-reducing activities into our daily lives.
