East Meets West
The foundation of contemplative psychotherapy is to become fully awake. The premise of this philosophy being that we all have within us a natural dignity and wisdom. It is our awareness that gets clouded over.
Honing in our present experience, we take a heartfelt look at our selves and mindfully locate obstructions. Pausing to notice what arises is the doorway to self-acceptance and authentic change.
Our basic nature is characterized by clarity, openness and compassion. When we see our self clearly, we are no longer held hostage by unconscious forces. Instead, we are free to choose how we want to be with our self as well as others.
