I gratuitously extol the virtues of connection and the joys of solitude. These two may seem like polar opposites. But much as we need each other, everyone equally needs a little alone time. In quiet solitude we discover who we really are and what are lives are about.
The virtues of solitude abound. Be it sitting silently with yourself a few minutes a day or turning inward for winter’s reflection, time alone is the ultimate antidote to the hectic pace of modern life.
If we can stay present with ourselves – facing whatever comes up with exquisite honesty – we open to what is within and in doing so discover our true self.
