Magnesium

Magnesium

Did you know about the importance of magnesium? This little mineral is used by every organ in the body. Inadequate intakes have been linked to various forms of depression as well as PMS. Magnesium levels can also be lowered by prolonged stress, heavy menstrual periods, and too much coffee/soda/salt.

Almonds, cashews, spinach, black beans, and edamame are excellent food sources of magnesium. It’s also available in supplement forms. But by far, one of the most relaxing ways to get a dose is in a lavender Epsom salt bath.

When dissolved in warm water, Epsom salt is absorbed through the skin and replenishes magnesium levels in the body. This helps produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical that helps create a feeling of calm. Lavender is a known antidepressant and useful for treating insomnia, irritability, stress-induced headaches, and PMS.

Optimal health is a balance of mind, body and soul. To experience the grace and vitality that is the birthright of every being, use the time-proven gifts of nature to your advantage. It makes sense that the more we flow with nature, the better off we’ll be.
