Anatomy of Trust

Anatomy of Trust

I geek out on the work of Brené Brown like no one’s business. How can I not when she repeatedly offers compassionate wisdom with so much grace and humor?

Here she breaks down the “anatomy of trust” into a handy acronym: B.R.A.V.I.N.G. Which stands for Boundaries, Reliability, Accountability, Vault (confidentiality), Integrity, Non-judgment, and Generosity.

There are many gems in this talk, such as knowing when someone is worthy of our story or how choosing not to connect when the opportunity is there, is a form of betrayal (or at the very least a missed opportunity to build trust).

But her last thought is one of the finest. If you find yourself struggling with trust, the first place to look is how you treat yourself. Because “we can’t ask people to give us something that we don’t believe we’re worthy of receiving.”
